Dr Ned Fawaz

CEO Energy International Corporation

 

Ned Fawaz is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Energy International Corporation (EIC), a company serving the Mechanical, Electrical,  Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning [HVAC] Industry.  Since the Company’s inception in 1979, through the leadership and innovation of Ned Fawaz, it has achieved more than US$ 50 million in sales turnover in 2005 in products and services related to the mechanical-electrical applications sector.

 

EIC has evolved and expanded to be a company with global reach. It currently employs locally and internationally 150 persons in Michigan and in its five overseas offices: Saudi Arabia, Sharjah, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Beirut. Energy International’s core business is centered on the international markets for residential, commercial industrial, mechanical and electrical equipment for cities and airports. Ned Fawaz is also the Founder and President of PowerOne Corporation, an Electrical Distribution firm, licensed by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). In addition, the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) has granted PowerOne Corporation a license to operate as a Michigan Alternative Electric Supplier (AES). Website: www.poweronecorp.com

 

Beginning his career over 42 years ago, Ned Fawaz has an extensive background in the mechanical and electrical equipment industry. He studied Mechanical Engineering at York Institute in York, Pennsylvania.  Before forming Energy International Corporation (EIC), Ned Fawaz had held several high profile positions, such as:

  • At the beginning of his career, as the Sales Manger of Square D Environmental Co., a mechanical-electrical firm, Detroit, Michigan, USA, from 1962 until 1967;

  • Then he moved on to the York Division of Borg-Warner Corporation, as Regional Manager for Middle East and Africa, and was stationed in Chicago, Lebanon, and United Arab Emirates respectively, during the period from 1967 to 1978.  He was responsible for achieving a sales growth for mechanical and electrical equipment totaling of some US$ 70 million annually.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

 

In May 2004, Ned Fawaz was conferred an honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws by the Davenport University of the State of Michigan in recognition of his exceptional business acumen and achievements coupled to his contribution to the welfare of the community.

 

Dr. Ned Fawaz is a U.S. citizen by naturalization [1958] and a Lebanese by descent. During the period 1960 to 1962 he served in US Army, in the USA and in Germany, and was granted an Honorable Discharge from army service.

 

Dr. Ned Fawaz has traveled the five continents and has international business contacts and personal friends all over the world.  Dr. Ned Fawaz has spoken on many occasions to Chambers of Commerce, business groups, and universities on how to succeed in global business and develop a meaningful understanding of various national cultures.

 

In addition to his business achievements, Ned Fawaz continues to devote his energies and talent for community service not only in Michigan where he resides but also in all the territories where he has personal ties. The following is representative of his multifaceted social activities:

 

  • Founder and First Chairman of the American Arab Chamber of Commerce, Michigan – 1992-1996, Executive Officer for Life.  The American Arab Chamber of Commerce is now the largest chamber of commerce in the State of Michigan after the Greater Detroit Chamber of Commerce, with membership exceeding 5,000.  It is a widely known and recognized business service institution. Website: www.americanarab.com

  • President and Founder (2002) of the Lebanese International Business Council (LIBC), an international organization with several thousand members around the globe, promoting networking and cooperation among international  businessmen, and encouraging cooperation among each other, and support for Lebanon economically www.LIBC.net, www.PlanetLebanon.net

  • Current Chairman and Founder of the new Islamic Center of America in Dearborn, Michigan  Past Chairman,  Past Vice President of the Board of Directors.  The institution serves over 250,000 members per year and it is the largest Islamic center in the USA.

  • Vice Chairman of the Foundation Board, Davenport University, a university with over 15,000 students in Michigan with campuses throughout the State.

  • Member of the Board of Advisors for the Michigan District Export Council, USA.

  • Former member of the Board of Directors of the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Greater Detroit Area, Michigan, USA.

  • Founding Member and Past Vice President of the International Association for Organ Donations (IAOD) in Michigan, USA, an organization serving humanity and is now the largest in the State of Michigan.

  • Organizer and Facilitator of Sister City relationship between the city of Dubai and the city of Detroit, an arrangement to facilitate and improve the understanding of the business environment and encourage investment.  Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick of Detroit, Michigan, USA, was accompanied by Dr. Ned Fawaz to Dubai for the signing of  the Sister City Agreement.

PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS AND NETWORKS

  • Member of Wayne County Private Industry Council;

  • Member of City of Detroit Economic Development Committee;

  • Member of the Board of Advisors for the Southeast Michigan Community Alliance (SEMCA), an organization that encourages student training and preparation for work environments;

  • Builders for Peace Committee, Member (1996 – 1998) appointed by United States Vice President Al Gore, to develop understanding of business opportunities consistent with the promotion of peace in the world;

  • Member (1995 to 1999) of United States Trade Advisory Board;

  • Past member of the Executive Board of the Detroit Interfaith Round Table, an institution that seeks understanding and dialogue among all those of different religious persuasions.

LATEST THINKING

 

Dr. Ned Fawaz is widely consulted by industry leaders and top executives from Government agencies of many countries, on matters pertaining to creation and implementation of organizational development and the designing of strategies that drive results.  With  his extensive experience in global business strategies, Ned Fawaz is focused on shared responsibility, the wider spreading of benefits  and the personal and community commitment for the enrichment of the quality of life.
