Sheryl Ameen - Fiegel


President, ART & Specialists
Bethesda, Maryland

Sheryl Fiegel is a trained art historian with more than three decades of professional experience.  She holds both a BA and MA in Art History and was an Accredited Member of the American Society of Appraisers for 20 years.  In 1996, she opened her own firm, ART & Specialists LC, a full-service art advisory company, to bring museum standards to the corporate world.

MILESTONES:
Co-curator of traveling exhibition Costumes from the Arab World (Rice University, Houston, TX, Nelson Atkins Museum, St. Louis, MO, Renwick Gallery, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC.

Curator of traveling exhibition Children’s Paintings from Saudi Arabia: Tradition and Technology (Children’s Museums, Washington, DC, Jacksonville, FL, Detroit, MI, Los Angeles, CA).

Founder and executive officer for Kahlil Gibran Centennial Foundation leading to dedication of Memorial Garden on Massachusetts Ave, NW, Washington, DC (process included passing a Joint Resolution through Congress, locating and securing a site on federal land, and shepherding the design through the necessary approvals with the Commission of Fine Arts, National Park Service, and National Capital Planning Commission).

Organizer of a 5-day tribute under the auspices of the USA 50th Anniversary of WWII Commemoration Committee to honor the WWII combat artists who served in uniform (program included a congressional reception, a concert, and a multi-service exhibition at the National Building Museum, Washington, DC).

Curator for Social Ideals and Cultural Democracy: Printmakers of the New Deal; Ben Shahn: Social Realism/Social Reform, AFL-CIO Headquarters, Washington, DC.

Curator of Diversity Exhibits for rotating exhibitions program at Capital One Financial Services, McLean, VA including four exhibits per year for 15 years.

Curator for William Seltzer Rice (1873-1963);  Landscape, Myth, and Memory: Woodcuts by Barbara KerneInspired by Nature in the Potomac Gorge at the C&O Canal and the Great Falls National Park; V for Victory: To Commemorate the 70th Anniversary of Victory in Europe, Washington Color School Artists, Paper Archaeologies: Recent Work by Felix Alberto Angel, Unfinished Journeys: The Art of Helen Zugaib,Cosmos Club, Washington, DC.

Co-author of Champions of Flight: Clayton Knight and William Heaslip: Artists Who Chronicled Aviation from the Great War to Victory in WWII with Theodore Hamady (Casemate, 2019)
