Lulu Seikaly Lulu Seikaly is a young politician in Texas with a very promising future. Her performance in her first campaign for congress clearly shows that a star is born. She already won the heavily contested democratic nomination after a run-off against the strongest candidate. She is proud of her convictions and issues: her belief that access to affordable health care is a right of every American; that every child has access to the resources to reach their full potential through quality education; that every working American can make a living wage; that climate change – while our greatest threat also presents the greatest economic opportunity for a sustainable future for our children and our grandchildren; and that women’s reproductive rights should be protected. She is a 33-year old first generation American, a former teacher and a very successful labor and employment attorney. In her practice, Ms. Seikaly represents small businesses and municipalities where she is highly regarded for her attention to detail and research. Prior to her legal career, Ms. Seikaly taught high school English, and subsequently became the North Texas Field Director on a gubernatorial campaign. As a recognized and innovative leader in her community, Ms. Seikaly was encouraged to be a voice for the next generation not only in her own community, but across the country given the lack of diversity in legislative bodies especially the US House of Representatives. Ms. Seikaly’s unfaltering commitment to service is intentional on ensuring that long term sustainable change will have a positive social, economic and political impact for our country for the long term. She attended Ursuline Academy of Dallas where "Serviam", which in Latin translates to "I Will Serve" was integrated into every facet of learning. At Southern Methodist University, she was active in student government, organized food drives, and tutored youth in the Dallas metroplex. Ms. Seikaly’s is first generation American. Her parents immigrated to the United States from Lebanon in 1984 and as medical professionals. They encouraged their children to give back for the opportunity to live in the greatest democracy without forgetting their origin. She responded by her decision to enter politics early in her career, with a strong desire to serve America best and, when opportunity permits, she wishes to keep Lebanon, pro-American and a reliable US ally. |
